Miles Arnone
American Capital - Managing Director, Technology Group
Miles Arnone joined American Capital in September 2002 as a Vice President in the Operations Team and was promoted to Principal in 2004 and to Managing Director in 2007. Mr. Arnone co-heads the American Capital Technology Group and is based in Boston, MA. He is involved in the Technology Group's current investments in Exstream Software, Moxy Media, FreeConference.com, NextPoint, Tymphany Corporation, and serves on the Board of Directors of these companies and others, including Axygen Inc., Value Plastics Inc., Astrodyne Corporation, Electro-Component Assembly Company, and eLynx Ltd. Previously, Mr. Arnone was Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Charterhouse Group International, a private equity firm with $1 billion under management. Mr. Arnone holds graduate degrees in management and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from MIT as well.
Dr. Raul Camposano
Ex Synopsys - Sr. VP, GM and CTO
Raul has over 25 years of experience in electronics and design technology with careers in industry and academia. Until 2009 he was President and CEO of Xoomsys, a startup in design technology. From 1994 to 2007 he was with Synopsys, where he served as Chief Technology Officer, Senior Vice President, and General Manager for multiple Business Units. Prior to joining Synopsys, Raul was a professor of Computer Science at GMD in Germany and a staff member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Raul holds a B.S. and M.S. in EE from the University of Chile, and a Ph.D. in CS from the University of Karlsruhe. He has published over 70 technical papers and three books. Raul serves on numerous editorial, advisory and company boards and was an Advisory Professor at Fudan University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was elected Fellow of the IEEE in 1999.
Jim Goldinger
Fairhaven Capital Partners - Managing Director
Jim joined Fairhaven Capital Partners (formerly TD Capital Ventures) as a founding member in January 2001.
He has over 12 years of engineering, project management, and venture
capital experience. Jim is focused on investments in the semiconductor
and wireless space. He serves as a Director of SiRiFIC Wireless and
has led investments in SiGe Semiconductor and IceFyre Semiconductor.
Jim holds three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology:
an S.B. and S.M. in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business
Administration from Sloan. He is a venture capital member of the
Fabless Semiconductor Association, an IEEE member, and is a spokesperson
for the NVCA.
Steven Grossman
Contour Semiconductor - President & Chief Executive Officer
Steve brings 25 years of semiconductor memory business experience
to Contour Semiconductor. From 1995 to 2002, Steve served as
Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Flash Memory Business
Unit of Hynix Semiconductor (formerly Hyundai Electronics). He
managed the growth of this business from start-up to a profitable
$100-million-plus enterprise. Prior to this and from the mid-1980’s,
Steve served as Director of Marketing for the Non-Volatile Memory
Division of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), helping to establish AMD
as a leader in the EPROM and Flash memory businesses. Most
recently, Steve served as President and CEO of Etenna Corporation,
an embedded antenna supplier. Steve has also held key management
roles at Texas Instruments, Exel Microelectronics, Seeq Technology
and Mostek Corporation. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering
from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the
Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ralph J. Hudson
SanDisk Corporation - Sr. VP of World Wide Operations – retired
Ralph has 35 years of experience in the electronics/high tech industry.
Prior to retiring in 2002, he was Senior VP of World Wide Operations
for SanDisk Corporation. SanDisk is an inventor of Flash Memory and
Compact Flash used in digital cameras, music and telecommunications.
He also has been Vice President and General Manager of Bell & Howell
Corporation, Vice President of World Wide Operations for Data General
Corporation and has held several senior management positions for
NCR Corporation. Ralph is experienced in working in the Latin American,
Asian and European markets.
James A. Saalfield
Still River Fund - Managing General Partner
Jim has more than 20 years of experience investing in and advising
successful early-stage companies. Over the past 15 years, Jim has
served on the Boards of more than 30 public and private companies
in the life sciences, remote data acquisition and data distribution
fields. Prior to the creation of the Still River Management Company,
from 1985 to 1993, Jim was a General Partner of Fleet Financial Group's
venture capital funds, Fleet Venture Partners I through IV. Early
in his career, he was an administrative dean at Harvard Business
School. Jim received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A.
from Oberlin College.
Dan Shepard
Contour Semiconductor - Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Dan began developing the Contour technology in the mid 1990s and
formed the company in 2000. A life-long inventor, he has received
multiple patents in areas ranging from industrial sewing machines
to memory architectures. Dan invented new types of financial securities
during his 16 years in the financial services industry, specializing
in quantitative analysis at such Wall Street firms as First
Boston, Lehman Brothers and UBS Securities and in Boston at Fidelity
Investments. He received a B.S. in Engineering and Operations Research,
cum laude with distinction, from Yale College in 1980 and an M.S.
from the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T. in 1982. Dan returned
to Yale and received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2002.
